Amnesty International – mobile tickets for promotion campaign

Within its main campaign “Protect the Human“, the human rights organisation Amnesty International implemented a Gavitec mobile ticketing solution for promotional solidarity parties throughout Great Britain.

In a week of campaigning for fund raising and support between the 16th and 22nd October, 2005, “Protect the Human” was the Amnesty International motto at over 1000 solidarity parties across Great Britain. The new Human Rights Action Centre in London’s Shoreditch was the venue for the concert appearances and speeches which accompanied the main event. Those wishing to buy a ticket for concerts by the bands “Starsailor” and “The Others” were able to take part in an SMS text competition for the price of a small charity donation. Each of the more than 700 lucky winners received their tickets in the form of a 2D code (Data Matrix) in an SMS and were able to pass through the Gavitec admission terminals with the mobile ticket displayed on their cellular phone. Over 220 attendees were able to enter the venue within the first 25 minutes.

The ticketing solution developed by the London marketing specialist Redeemit is based on the code-reading technology from Gavitec and on the award-winning World Trade Server (WTS) from Gavitec’s Israeli business partner RegiSoft. The WTS co-ordinated the distribution and redemption of the mobile tickets, and admissions were controlled by the Gavitec EXIO™ scanner placed at the event entrance.

Holders of mobile tickets were able to verify their entry rights simply by holding their mobile ticket in form of a 2D code displayed on their mobile phone in front of the Gavitec EXIO™ scanner.
